League of Women Voters offers chance for voters to meet judicial candidates

The League of Women Voters of the Villages/Tri County Area will sponsor a “Judicial Meet and Greet” from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Leesburg Library, located at 100 E. Main St. Candidates for judges for the County Court, Circuit Court, and Appellate Court (Fifth District Court of Appeals) who will be on the 2014 Primary Election Ballot in Marion, Lake and Sumter Counties will be on hand and the public is encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to meet them.  Light refreshments will be served. The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization and does not endorse or oppose political parties or candidates.  Membership in the league is open to women and men 18 years of age and older.   One of the League’s guiding principles is that democratic government depends on the informed and active participation of its citizens. In order to encourage such participation, the League of Women Voters of The Villages/Tri-County will provide speakers at the invitation of interested groups.
