Leesburg woman killled in accident on CR 44

A 53-year-old Leesburg woman was killed in a three-vehicle accident at 1:30 p.m. Sunday on County Road 44 in Lake County.

Michelle Nickle, was driving north on County Road 44 when she entered the southbound lane, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Constance Kasey, 71, of Leesburg, attempted to take evasive action, but the left front of Nickle’s vehicle hit Kasey’s vehicle and spun it clockwise.

A truck driven by 81-year-old Wilmer Bell, also of Leesburg, then collided with Kasey’s vehicle.

Nickle was pronounced dead by the medical examiner.

Kasey suffered serious injuries and was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

The accident remains under investigation.
