To the Editor:
Steny Hoyer, Democratic Whip in Congress stated in his recent speech that “Most of us living in the Villages are Republican” and that we should reach out to the Democrats and support their give-a-way programs. I say that most of us if not all of us folks (are) were hard working Americans who planed for their future retirement years in a place called The Villages. We have paid taxes for years (and still paying) supporting all the entitlement programs big government throws at us and still made sure we would have enough money left to enjoy retirement. The folks in the villages are the most generous people who support all kinds of charities, schools, churches, civic organizations, military, food kitchens, and the list go’s on & on with hundreds of thousands of dollars along with volunteering time to all these charities. ALL ON A FIXED INCOME. Â I think you need to go back to Washington and retire, because what you have been doing for thirty years is not working!
