To the Editor:
The Villages Parrot Heads and Cody’s Original Roadhouse recently sponsored an event to salute Villages Honor Flight (VHF). The mission of Honor Flight is to send our war veterans to Washington DC, without cost to the veteran, to see the memorials dedicated to their service and to thank them for the sacrifices they have made. Since 2012 VHF has transported over 250 veterans, mostly WWII veterans. In 2014 we will be flying 200 additional veterans to DC on these trips of “thanks and appreciation”. VHF receives no outside funding for these flights, depending on community support. The sponsors of this event, coupled with generous support of the community who attended, raised sufficient funds to pay the necessary costs associated with VHF sending 5 veterans to Washington DC. On behalf of the veterans who will be honored, Villages Honor flight extends its thanks to the community, Villages Parrot Heads and Cody’s Original Roadhouse for making this event a great success.
