Letter to the Editor: Trashy Non-Villagers

To the Editor:

I recently bought a home in the Villages after visiting my parents for the last 12 years. Like most people, I moved to The Villages to enjoy a Utopian lifestyle and all the amenities it has to offer.
I, like many others, have become frustrated at the amount of trashy and downright shady people over indulging and hanging out at the Village Market squares. There are many nights when leaving the square, I have been approached and felt threatened.
While I understand that you can’t prevent the non-villagers from surrounding areas entering the market squares and partaking of the amenities, we can make it more difficult for them. My suggestion is to :
1. Significantly raise the price of the drinks/food and allow only Villagers to enjoy the discount by showing their Village pass.
2. Increase police presence at the Village “Hot Spots” and apply pressure.
This has become a huge issue and something needs to be done. This is why we pay the bond!

Steaming.
