To the Editor:
The recent debacle accessing the Pacquiao – Mayweather prize-fight again highlights the failure of our home ‘cable’ services. On Saturday night, both Comcast and Direct TV were understaffed and overwhelmed by demand for the broadcast to the point where service calls went unanswered, orders unfilled. If you were here five years ago, you probably recall that Comcast would have easily won a ‘worst vendor’ contest. In a word, they were awful. With the arrival of CenturyLink and Direct TV, residents hoped that the competition might spur improvements. Perhaps it did, as all the providers are now equally poor in both service and overall value. How many of us play vendor hop-scotch, annually jumping from one cable supplier to another? Perhaps we should all turn off our TV’s and PC’s, go outside and play Pickle Ball. At least that would be better exercise and far less frustration.
