A 39-year-old local EMT was arrested Sunday night after allegedly sending threatening texts to a Summerfield woman.
George L. Van Noy of Leesburg was taken into custody shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday by Marion County sheriff’s deputies after he allegedly threatened via text message to kill the woman.
“You are taking the phrase kill you tonight too seriously,” Van Noy told deputies, according to an arrest report. He said he made the threats to the woman due to her not responding to his calls or texts.
The woman had already shown deputies a text received from Van Noy’s phone which said he was going to kill whoever she was with, the report indicated. He also reportedly threatened to take the woman’s son to Pennsylvania and to beat him if he did not cooperate. The boy confirmed to deputies that the threats had been made.
Van Noy was arrested and booked at the Marion County Jail.
