The snowbirds have headed back north and year-rounders can say goodbye to the popular Spanish Springs Farmers Market.
It will be back when the snowbirds begin to return in the fall.
The Spanish Springs Town Square Farmers Market, which brings local produce and other items of interest to the square each Thursday, will shut down April 27. In five months, it will be back.
Vendors learned of the change in a letter from the Entertainment Department.
“After several discussions, we have decided to convert the Spanish Springs farmers market into a seasonal market,” Entertainment Department Director Brian Russo wrote in the letter.
The Spanish Springs Farmers Market was introduced in 2013 and since that time has been a popular Thursday draw.
The Brownwood Paddock Square Farmers Market came into being when that square was opened. It has been a Saturday mainstay since that time. But its hours will be trimmed back while the snowbirds are absent. It will be operated from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, until the snowbirds return in the fall.
