A 50-year-old Lady Lake man accused of stalking a woman over a two-day period earlier this month has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
James Godrey Nicholson entered the plea Wednesday in Lake County Court.
He is also accused of attacking his 87-year-old mother in January. Nicholson had been arrested on the Historic Side of The Villages after he reportedly struck his mother. She was reportedly trying to take him to church. A psychological evaluation was ordered earlier this month in that case.
He was free on $10,000 bond when he allegedly began stalked a woman over a two-day period in August. The stalking incident had begun Aug. 11 at Lake Sumter Landing. On the second day, the woman who was being stalked had her young daughter with her and when she spotted Nicholson she locked herself and her daughter in the restroom at RaceTrac in Lady Lake and called 911.
When Nicholson was arrested by Lady Lake police the next day, a knife, belt, gloves and a Bible were discovered in his truck.
He is currently being held on $15,000 bond in the stalking case.
