Man arrested after allegedly taking Jeep from Continental Country Club

A 28-year-old man was arrested after he stole a 2007 silver Jeep Commander from a woman living in Continental Country Club in Wildwood.

Robert Ruggerio was taken into custody after a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy noticed the vehicle, which had been reported stolen, pulling out of Continental Country Club.

A woman had reported that he had come to her residence, spit on her and took her car keys and then left in her vehicle, according to the arrest report.

Ruggerio was arrested on charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle, battery and driving while license suspended.

He was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center where bond was set at $2,000.
