Man arrested after attempting to steal merchandise at Goodwill Superstore

A man was arrested Wednesday after attempting to steal merchandise at the Goodwill Superstore in Oxford.

Wildwood police were called to the store at 8:43 p.m. after 35-year-old Johnny Isaiah Goodfella of Summerfield was spotted ripping tags off merchandise, according to an arrest report. He then put the merchandise under his arm and attempted to walk out of the store with a female companion.

The merchandise was valued at $55.

He was arrested on a charge of petit theft and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $500.
