Man arrested with marijuana after traffic stop for inoperable taillights

A 38-year-old Summerfield man was arrested on a charge of marijuana possession after a traffic stop for inoperable taillights Saturday night in the parking lot of RaceTrac on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 in Lady Lake.

A pickup in which Robert Scott Penuel had been a passenger was pulled over after 11 p.m. by Lady Lake  police. A backpack in the truck was found to contain marijuana. The driver of the truck said the backpack did not belong to him.

Penuel was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana and booked at the Lake County Jail. He was also found to be wanted on a Columbia County warrant.
