A man was arrested Tuesday at The Quarters apartments in connection with a bad breakup with his girlfriend.
Lady Lake police were called to the apartment complex at 7:20 a.m. where 27-year-old Benjamin Scott Murphy got into a fight with his live-in girlfriend with whom he is breaking up. He claimed she had begun smashing dishes and threw a lamp. She said he grabbed her by the throat and wrist and pushed her out of the apartment. She said she suffered an abrasion to her knee.
Murphy and the woman have known each other for more than a year and had been living together at the apartment for the past two months, according to the arrest report.
He was arrested on a charge of battery and booked at the Lake County Jail.
