Man arrested after reportedly stealing van loaded with meat from restaurant

A 46-year-old Fruitland Park man was arrested after he reportedly stole a van loaded with meat from a restaurant in Umatilla.

Police officers were called at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday to the Grillers’ Club in reference to a stolen 2016 Nissan van, according to a report from the Umatilla Police Department. Officers were told that Stanley Johnson had taken the van and that $516 worth of meat that had been in the van was missing. When an officer spotted Johnson and told him to get on the ground, Johnson refused to do so, according to the report.

He was arrested on charges of theft, theft of a vehicle and resisting an officer. He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $5,000 bond.
