A man who had been speeding on County Road 466 and was arrested after he allegedly attempted to flee from the police officer who had caught him on radar, is now behind bars in Sumter County.
Travis N. Jaggie, 25, of Bushnell, was booked on a probation violation Sunday at the Sumter County Detention Center.
His previous record includes a 2011 arrest in Pasco County on a charge of burglary.
On April 21, Jaggie had been driving 65 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone when he was caught on radar, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. When the police officer pulled out behind him, Jaggie quickly turned down Clay Avenue and ran a stop sign at Clay and McClendon Street, the arrest report indicated. The officer continued to pursue the vehicle on Griffinview Drive and then motorists pointed the officer to where Jaggie left his still-running vehicle. Jaggie later emerged from a residence and told the officer he had gone inside to use the bathroom.
He was arrested on charges of driving without a license and attempting to elude a police officer. The report indicated Jaggie had never had a license.
