Man arrested in theft of boat shoes at Kohl’s

A 29-year-old man with a previous theft conviction was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly attempted to steal a pair of boat shoes from Kohl’s in Lady Lake.

John E. Dollar of Summerfield selected the Sonoma boat-style shoes, put them in the front of his waistband and attempted to leave the store, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. He was stopped by the store’s loss prevention officer. The shoes were valued at $44.99.

A check revealed Dollar had a previous conviction in 2010 as well as an incident in California, but no conviction date could be located.
