Man arrested in theft from Villager, walks out of jail after case dropped

A Natchez Villas man arrested in April in a case of theft in the Village of Sunset Pointe, walked out of jail this past week after the case was abruptly dropped.

A man believed to have been Kenneth Andrew Weatherwax, 32, had been caught on video surveillance entering the garage of a home on Latta Court, according to Sumter County Sheriff’s Office  arrest reports. A distinctive tattoo on his hand prompted deputies to arrest Weatherwax. You can read more about the arrest HERE

Weatherwax had been lodged at the Sumter County Detention Center since his arrest April 22. He was released at 5:07 p.m. May 23. Earlier that day, two counts of burglary and one count of grand theft had been dropped in Sumter County Court.

Weatherwax was jailed in Lake County on charges of fraud, dealing in stolen property and larceny in connection with a 2011 case. He was sentenced to two years, two months and 28 days in state prison with credit for 76 days already served in jail. He was released March 6, 2014 and moved into the Natchez Villas in The Villages.
