Man calls 911 after fight with woman over cigarettes

A man called 911 after a fight with a woman Wednesday over cigarettes.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded at 3:43 p.m. Wednesday at a residence on SE 25th Avenue in Summerfield after a verbal dispute over cigarettes turned physical.

A woman had lit a cigarette inside the residence, but a man immediately put it out. She went to grab a pack of cigarettes but the man told her “no.” She then came at the man in an “aggressive manner,” grabbed his shirt and scratched him on the back of the neck, according to the incident report from the sheriff’s office. He then called 911.

Both indicated they wanted to pursue charges. A deputy advised the pair to contact the state attorney’s office if they wanted to pursue the matter.
