A 25-year-old man has been charged with premeditated-attempted first degree murder in connection with a shot fired earlier this year at a home in Stonecrest.
Wayne Frazier is accused of going to the Stonecrest home in the early morning hours of May 18 and attempting to open a door, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
The homeowner saw this and opened the door to find Frazier standing there with a bandana covering his face, holding a handgun in one hand and a taser in the other. Frazier robbed the victim of the money in his wallet and demanded the keys to his vehicle. The homeowner then shut and locked the door.
“Now I’m gonna have to shoot you, now I’m gonna have to kill you,” Frazier told the homeowner.
Frazier shot one round through the door, missing the victim. The victim’s wife called 911 and Frazier fled the location.
On June 6, Frazier was apprehended after he allegedly committed a burglary in Stonecrest. During that investigation, Frazier was connected to several burglaries in the area, and he was arrested and charged with multiple felonies.
Major Crimes Detective Travis O’Cull asked him if he was responsible for the armed home invasion robbery, to which Frazier stated, “Sir, honestly that sounds exactly like something I would do, but the firearm thing, I’m not that person.”
The victim was able to positively identify Frazier out of a photo line-up as the man who robbed and shot at him at his residence.
In addition to his original charges, Frazier is now facing charges of premeditated-attempted first degree murder, home invasion robbery with a deadly weapon and shooting into an occupied dwelling. He remains in the Marion County Jail on $141,000 bond.
