A 23-year-old man was arrested for possession of drugs and a weapon after spinning out the tires of his vehicle at a location where children were present.
Kyle Matthew Humphrey of Fruitland Park was booked at the Lake County Jail following his arrest Nov. 18 by Fruitland Park police.
Police, children and pedestrians were at Spring Lake Cove Lane when Humphrey was spotted driving carelessly, accelerated quickly, and spun out his tires, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.
When a police officer approached Humphrey, he said he was sorry, but dodged questions about his identity. Eventually, the officer was able to determine that Humphrey is classified as a habitual traffic offender and was wanted on Lake County warrants.
After Humphrey was taken into custody, an inventory of his vehicle turned up a backpack which contained $806 in cash, an Arizona beverage can containing methamphetamine, a small baggie containing methamphetamine, a grinder, a small scale and a torch. A larger scale was located in the back seat of the vehicle. A pipe wrapped in a paper towel was found in the pocket of the driver’s door. A handgun was found under the driver’s seat along with 9mm bullets and AK bullets.
He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $10,000 bond.
He was also ticketed on a charge of careless driving.
