A 54-year-old Riverview man was arrested after he allegedly pointed a semi automatic pistol at fellow motorists Sunday afternoon on Interstate 75 in Marion County.

The Florida Highway Patrol had received reports of a vehicle being operated in a reckless manner. The callers advised FHP that a male subject driving a silver Saturn was trying to run them off the road and was pointing a black semi automatic pistol at them. The FHP communications center maintained contact with the callers and were able to position Troopers on the interstate to locate the suspect vehicle.

Troopers located the vehicle and observed it traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of traffic.

Troopers arrested David M. Belkin on charges of reckless driving, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and marijuana possession.

He was booked at the Marion County Jail on $6,000 bond.
