Man with lengthy criminal history arrested inside Village of La Zamora gate

A 38-year-old man with a suspended driver’s license and marijuana was arrested near the Village of La Zamora gate at Chula Vista Avenue.

Matthew Gene Dodge of 4041 Azalea Way in Lady Lake had been driving with a headlight out on his vehicle shortly after midnight Sunday on Chula Vista Avenue at Sierra Blanca Court, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. He admitted to the police officer that his license had been suspended due to failure to pay child support. While the officer was putting Dodge into his patrol car, the officer discovered that Dodge was in possession of a bag of marijuana and a marijuana pipe in the shape of a spark plug.

Dodge was arrested on charges of driving while license suspended, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $7,000 bond.

In 2014, Dodge was arrested when he was found to be in possession of marijuana and hydrocodone. Later that same year, he was arrested on a charge of violating his probation following those arrests. In 2013, he was arrested on charges of criminal mischief and possession of marijuana. In 2008 and 2010, he was arrested on charges of driving while license suspended.
