A 36-year-old man who lives with his mother in the Village of Osceola Hills has been sentenced to 15 days in jail as the result of a motorcycle crash in January.

Christopher John Reale, who lives at 3953 Zenith Loop in The Villages, had been riding a Yamaha motorcycle Jan. 20 at Miller Boulevard and College Avenue in Fruitland Park when he was involved in an accident, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. During the investigation of the accident, it was revealed that Reale’s driver’s license had been suspended. It was also revealed that he had been riding without the proper motorcycle endorsement. His license had been suspended in 2010 following a conviction on a charge of driving under the influence.

Last week in Lake County Court, Reale entered a plea of no contest in the case. He was sentenced to 15 days in jail. He was ordered to pay $50 per day for each day of incarceration and another $628 in court costs.

He still has a case pending in Sumter County Court.

In March, he was arrested at Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza. He allegedly took a $29.92 iPad case out of its packaging and placed it on his iPad, an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office indicated. He then went to the auto department where he put two packs of sandpaper in another pack so he would only have to pay for the price of one. He then attempted to leave the store without paying for the items. Reale told a deputy that the sandpaper was priced too high, so he put two packages into one so he’d only have to pay for one. He said he put the iPad case on his iPad and was going to purchase it later, but failed to do so.

A criminal history check revealed Reale had a previous guilty conviction for petit theft in 2007 in New York from South Hampton Town Police Department.
