A 34-year-old man with a long history of drug arrests was taken into custody after a K-9 alerted on a vehicle Sunday in which he had been riding as a passenger.

The vehicle was pulled over at 12:42 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of Save-A-Lot in Wildwood. After the K-9 alerted on the vehicle, a deputy conducting a search of the vehicle found a clear plastic cellophane wrapper containing a crystal like residue having the appearance of methamphetamine within a pack of L&M Bold brand cigarettes located in the door handle where Ryan Victor Ferris had been sitting, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Ferris was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $3,500 bond.

The arrest report indicated Ferris has been arrested numerous times on drug offenses. He had been arrested as recently as February.
