Man pays for aquarium filter with phony money at PetSmart

A man paid for a aquarium filter with counterfeit money this past weekend at PetSmart at Rolling Acres Shopping Plaza.

The man entered the store on May 14 and purchased a Fluval FX5 filter and other small items for the fish tank totaling $380.90, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

That night the manager was counting money in the cashier’s cash drawers and discovered that multiple $20 bills did not have a security strip. A counterfeit-detecting pen showed the bills were phony.
