Man with previous DUI arrested with empty liquor bottles in his vehicle

A 48-year-old man with a previous drunk driving arrest, was taken into custody Tuesday night in The Villages.

Richard W. Ferko Jr. of Fruitland Park had been pulled over for driving without taillights in the area of Chula Vista Avenue and Rio Grand Boulevard, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

A check of his driving record revealed a previous driving under the influence conviction and three convictions for driving while license revoked.

The officer suspected Ferko had been drinking, but Ferko refused to perform field sobriety exercises and refused to submit a breath sample.

During an inventory of his vehicle, empty liquor bottles were discovered.

He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $4,000.
