Man pulled over on Belvedere Boulevard arrested on drug charge

A 38-year-old man was arrested by a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy after he was pulled over at 7:37 p.m. Sunday on Belvedere Boulevard in The Villages.

Jason Michael Frees of Summerfield was pulled over for having a non-functioning headlight. The deputy who made the traffic stop noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle, according the arrest report.

Frees told the deputy he had marijuana in a bag and turned it over, the arrest report indicated.

Frees was charged with marijuana possession and was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center where bond was set at $1,000.
