A 27-year-old Lady Lake man was sentenced Thursday in Lake County Court to 36 months probation for stealing guns from his 76-year-old grandfather.

Raymond Francis Hertzfeld III of 103 Caroline Ave. entered a plea of no contest to a charge of grand theft. He reportedly stole 12 firearms, ammunition and a leather holster all with a value of $8,120. At the time of his arrest in March, his grandfather told law enforcement officers that his grandson had stolen the guns to fuel his drug habit.

Hertzfeld also pleaded no contest Thursday to charges of driving while license suspended and no motor vehicle registration. He was sentenced to 15 days in jail with credit for time served.
