A 52-year-old man arrested earlier this year after stealing money from a fountain in The Villages landed back behind bars this weekend.
Robert Henry Kalmus was being held this weekend at the Marion County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $2,500.
Kalmus had been arrested this past March after stealing money from a fountain at Main Street and Paige Place in front of Citizens First Bank in Spanish Springs. He had a methamphetamine pipe in his possession in that case. After the pipe fell from his pocket, he tried to stomp on it to destroy evidence. He was jailed and released about a month later when a Lake County judge sentenced him to time served.
In October, he walked out of Wal-Mart in Summerfield in a pair of new shoes for which he had not paid. When he was approached by a loss prevention officer, he became “irate,” ran back into the store and replaced the shoes. Kalmus then ran across the street where he was apprehended by a pair of deputies. A small bag of marijuana was discovered near where Kalmus was apprehended. He was arrested and booked at the Marion County Jail.
On Oct. 20, 2013 while Kalmus was living on Aloha Way on the Historic Side of The Villages, he had been arrested on a charge of driving while his license was revoked. He was sentenced to five days in jail in that case.
