A man with wine bottles in the bed of his pickup truck was arrested on a drunk driving charge after a traffic stop late Saturday night on U.S. 301.
Edwin Arbeu, 58, of Summerfield, had been northbound on U.S. 301 in a red Ford Ranger pickup at 11:40 p.m. when he was pulled over for failure to maintain a single lane of traffic, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The deputy making the traffic stop noticed two wine bottles in the bed of the pickup. One of the bottles was nearly empty. Arbeu admitted he had been drinking and said he was heading home from his son’s wedding.
He failed field sobriety exercises and provided breath samples that registered .119 and .121 blood alcohol content.
He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on a charge of driving under the influence. Bond was set at $1,000.
