Marco Rubio signs Grover Norquist’s anti-tax pledge

Republican presidential hopeful U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., signed Americans for Tax Reform’s (ATR) pledge to “oppose and veto any and all efforts to increase taxes.” Rubio launched his bid for the Republican presidential nomination earlier this month.

Conservative activist Grover Norquist, the president of ATR, praised Rubio’s record in the Florida House and the U.S. Senate on taxes.

“Sen. Rubio is a longtime leader in the taxpayer movement,” Norquist said on Tuesday. “He signed and kept the pledge as a Florida state House representative and as a United States senator. By signing the Taxpayer Protection Pledge to the American people, Sen. Rubio continues to protect American taxpayers against higher taxes.

“Sen. Rubio understands that government should be reformed so that it takes and spends less of the taxpayers’ money, and will oppose tax increases that paper over and continue the failures of the past,” Norquist added.
