Marguerite Thompson McCullough, 77, of The Villages, Florida, passed away on December 8. 2016. The third of five children, born to Rev. Charles Oesterling and Ruth Horn Thompson, spent her childhood in NYC, Centerville, OH and Lawrence County, PA. She was a fun loving child and good student. She married Robert McCullough and had four children. When their youngest went to school, so did Marguerite. She graduated with highest honors from Slippery Rock University then earned a Master’s degree at Westminster College. She pursued her life’s work as an educator in the Laurel School District. Bob and Marguerite moved to Florida. She taught at Challenger 7 Elementary, became an Elementary Reading Specialist for Brevard County and later a consultant at Gesell Institute. When Bob died she moved to The Villages and enjoyed a retirement full of friendship, family, traveling, volunteering, dance and games. Marguerite delighted in the abiding love of family, God’s glorious world, teaching hundreds of children and good friends. She is missed by daughter, Caroline (Michael) Hartford; sons, Robert (Camille), Reed, Brian; grandchildren, Emily (Nick), Michael, Laura (Kevin); brother, Charles (Gretchen); sisters, Florence and Helen (Sam); sister-in-law, Wendy; numerous nieces and nephews and even more cousins. Her husband, parents, and brother William preceded her in death.
Marguerite’s memorial service celebration is Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, The Villages, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to hospice or Weirsdale Elementary School Reading Program.
