Marilyn A. Murphy

Marilyn A. Murphy, age 82, of The Villages, FL, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017. She fought hard and kept a very positive attitude thru her lengthy illness.

Marilyn was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed family, traveling and home decorating. She moved to The Villages from Wappingers Falls, NY in 2008 and was a member of St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. 

Marilyn was known as “Glam-Ma” to her five grandchildren. “Glam-Ma” is defined as a “woman whose children have had children but she is far too young, gorgeous and glamorous to be called grandma.”

She is survived by her husband of 62 years Bill Murphy; sons Kevin Murphy and his wife Sharon and Chris Murphy and his wife Christine all of Cary, NC; daughter in law Sandy Murphy of Poughkeepsie, NY; grandchildren Kyle, Kara, Sean, Brandon and Trevor. She was preceded in death by a son Keith Murphy. 

A memorial gathering will take place at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd, The Villages, FL 32159 on Wednesday, January 3, 2017 from 3 – 5 p.m. A prayer service will take place at 4:30 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, FL 32162.
