Marion County names new assistant county administrator

Angel Roussel

Marion County’s Public Works division operates under new leadership with the appointment of Angel Roussel as Assistant County Administrator on Dec. 13. The prior Assistant County Administrator left the county in September. Roussel served in the role in an interim capacity for the past three months.
The Marion County Board of County Commissioners will be formally notified of the selection of Roussel during the board’s regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 19.
“Marion County is growing rapidly and we need a visionary leader to guide the efforts of our public works departments as they continue implementing the plans, infrastructure and guidelines that are essential to this growth,” said Mounir Bouyounes, Marion County Administrator. “Angel Roussel is the visionary leader with the experience and skills necessary to lead our public works division.”
Roussel joined Marion County in 2007 as the engineering manager for Marion County Utilities before taking an opportunity outside of the county in 2013. He returned to Marion County Utilities as the department’s director in April 2016, remaining in that role until his selection as Assistant County Administrator. Roussel’s selection is the culmination of a competitive hiring process that was conducted to find the right fit to continue the public works division’s positive forward momentum.
As Assistant County Administrator, he oversees 9 departments and a total staff of about 400. Roussel brings more than 17 years of public works-related experience to his new role.
“Our community is poised for great things, from economic development to a booming housing market that will bring new residents to Marion County,” Roussel said. “A great set of public works departments is crucial to a community’s ability to achieve smart growth and I look forward to leading our public works departments in continuing to provide valuable services to our community.”
