Marion County UF/IFAS Extension Service offering program to help individuals take charge of their diabetes

Marion County UF/IFAS Extension Service and local health professionals partner again this summer for your opportunity to maintain a high quality of life by learning about diabetes and developing a healthy living plan with the “Take Charge of Your Diabetes” series. The ten-session series will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on select Tuesdays beginning May 23 at On Top of the World’s Master the Possibilities Learning Education Center, 8415 SW 80th St., Ocala.

Learn everything from carbohydrate counting and blood glucose monitoring to medication and foot care. Gain the knowledge and understanding necessary to actively control your diabetes and maintain a healthy lifestyle. The $45 fee covers ten class sessions and a health screening for each participant; one support person per registrant may attend for free. Call 352-854-3699 to register by Tuesday, May 16.

Take Charge of Your Diabetes is an in-depth, evidence-based, collaborative diabetes self-management education program targeted to adults with type 2 diabetes. The program is designed to improve blood glucose control and quality of life and reduce long-term health risks of persons with diabetes by providing the information and motivation they need to adopt positive behavior changes.
