Marjorie Magness Brahmey,80, of Leesburg, Florida, passed away on July 22, 2014. She was born in New York City and grew up in Miami Springs, Florida. She attended the University of Florida and, while there, performed as a “Mermaid” at the Rainbow Springs Park. Her career path included modeling, hosting a TV show, construction planning, and financial management. She joined the Department of the Navy as a civilian where performing her duties as a Program Analyst, she was assigned to the Strategic Program Office, which is responsible for the development, production and support of the Polaris, Poseidon, and Trident Submarine Ballistic Missile Systems. Later, she went on to the Staff of the Chief of Naval Operations Foriegn Aid Program with responsiblities for five countries (Portugal, Spain, Turkey, Greece and the Philippines). After retiring in 1989, she and her husband spent five years in an RV touring the US and Canada. They settled in Marion County (FL) in 1995 and moved to Lake Port Square in Leesburg in 2012. She is survived by her husband Thomas; three sons, Harvey, Clint and Michael, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Alban’s Anglican Church at 10am on Monday, August 25, 2014, followed by private internment in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Alban’s Anglican Church (625 West Lady Lake Blvd., Lady Lake, FL 32159) or Cornerstone Hospice (2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL, 32778).
