Martin F. Hockey

Martin F. Hockey, The Villages, FL, died on March 31, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Martin was born in Buffalo, NY and moved to The Villages in December 2001. He graduated from the New York State Police Academy and began his career in LaFayette, NY as a trooper and was then assigned to Troop A, Batavia, NY. He retired in 2000 as an investigator with NYS Police BCI.
Marty was a member of the Florida Assn. of Retired Troopers of NY, Police & Fire Club of The Villages, Buffalo WNY Club, and The Irish American Claddagh Club. He enjoyed golfing with The Dinosaur Club for the past 14 years. He was a parishioner of St. Mark, Summerfield, FL

He is survived by his wife Dottie and his children: Martin, Jr. (Laurel), Anne McGinnis (Michael), Michael (Tracey), Leigh Ann Hockey. Also, Diane Butterfield (Chris), Donald Damrath, David Damrath, Sister-in-law Christine Hockey (late James). Also survived by several grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, April 11, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hwy 42, Summerfield, FL with a reception to follow. Burial will be at a later time in NY. Martin requested that any donations be sent to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Pancreatic Care Center, P.O.B. 5208, Cincinnati, OH 45201-5202 in his memory.
