Mary Joan Hackwelder

Mary Joan Hackwelder of Wildwood, Florida, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at the age of 84 years. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to F. Joseph and Thelma E. Holler.

Mary Joan was a homemaker and moved here from Jacksonville, Florida in the mid 1970’s. She was a Catholic and an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a longtime member of Miona Lake Golf Club. Mary Joan was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jim Holler, who passed away in 2004.

She is remembered and will be dearly missed by her husband of 61 years, Lawrence “Larry” Hackwelder; daughter, Meg (Greg) Grimm of Gainesville, Florida; grandson Jory (Amanda) Grimm of Alachua, FL and granddaughter, Kelley Grimm (Andrew Hoover) of Trenton, FL.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Noon at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 5323 E. County Road 462, Wildwood, FL 34785 with burial to follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Cornerstone Hospice at 2445 Lane Park Road Tavares, FL 32778, or Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center at 1506 Lake Highland Drive, Orlando, FL 32803 or Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org/donate in Mary Joan’s loving memory.
