Mary Katherine Griner

Mary Katherine Griner, of Leesburg, FL, ”Sis” to all who knew and loved her, passed away Saturday September 30, 2017. Sis was born April 20, 1931 to Alton Hardy and Eva Perry Griner and was a lifetime resident of Leesburg.

She worked for McCrory’s on Main St. and in Palm Plaza before retiring in 1981 with 30 years of service. Her greatest joy was found in the countless hours spent with and caring for her family followed only by the peace of mind working in the outdoors around her yard brought to her.

She is survived by her brother Charles E. “Buddy” Griner of Orange Park; sisters Shirley A. Towne of Tallahassee and Eva H. “Polly” Rosenbalm of Leesburg: sisters-in-law Rheda Griner and Linda Griner, both of Leesburg; Sis never married but cared for and treated all of her nieces and nephews as if they were her children. They are: Marsha Whitfield, Rheda Gail Shumate, Suzanne Persampieri, Jay Griner, Kay Sawchuck, Mike Towne, Sandra McCoy, Julie Demer, Tim Griner, Charles Rosenbalm, Sam Griner, David Rosenbalm, and Renee Hagen. Additionally she is survived by many great nieces and nephews and other loving extended family. She was preceded in death by her brothers James A. “Jim” Griner and Perry H. Griner.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday October 7, 2017 beginning at 1 p.m. in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Leesburg, FL. Visitations will be held on Friday October 6th from 6 – 7 p.m. and Saturday October 7th from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Beyers Funeral Home, Leesburg.
