Mary Nadene Palmer, 96, Fruitland Park, FL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Villages Hospice House. Mary Nadene was born on March 16, 1920 in Sulphur Springs, TX, the daughter of Sterling Ishmael and Willie Johnston Ishmael.
In 1940, she married the love of her life Reverend Neil E. Palmer from Statesboro, GA and they settled in Savannah, GA where they raised their three children while ministering at the Nazarene Church in Savannah and Wayne County, GA until 1997.
Nadene was preceded in death by her loving husband Neil and her son Sterling H. Palmer.
She is survived by her daughters Joy P. Holmen (husband Gus) and Faith P. Mooney (husband Clarence), as well as grandsons: Roy N. Dixon (wife Debbie) and Andrew O. Hetland (wife Ruth); granddaughters: Renee Scoular of Canada (husband Jamie) and Holly P. Miller (husband Jason). She is also survived by a brother Laning Ishmael and a sister Peggy McDougall; 6 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the Church of the Nazarene in Leesburg, FL on Monday, November 28, 2016 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m.
There will be a graveside service at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery, Statesboro, GA on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 11 a.m.
