Massachusetts man arrested with drug paraphernalia on U.S. 301

A 28-year-old Massachusetts man was arrested on a drug-related charge Thursday by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies.

Major Gary Brannen spotted a vehicle at about 5:30 p.m. impeding the flow of traffic on U.S. 301 at County Road 468.

The license plate on the vehicle belonged to another vehicle and open liquor was discovered in the vehicle, according to the arrest report.

A passenger in the vehicle, Matthew Steven Devaney of Jamaica Plain, Mass. was patted down by a deputy and a glass pipe with residue of methamphetamine was found on him.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center where bond was set at $1,000.
