Matt Damon returns as ‘Jason Bourne’

Matt Damon takes on the role as Jason Bourne, an ex-CIA member who has lost his memory and identity. This is Damon’s fourth appearance as Bourne in a series that dates back to 2002.

Bourne is now in the digital age. Computer guru Aaron Koollar (Riz Ahmed) promises the world a structured future bordering on Valhalla if his myriad of followers give up a few fundamental rights.  The proposed path is twisted by nefarious CIA chief Dewey (Tommy Lee Jones) to where he alone would control everyone’s destiny.

Dewey knows Bourne is a potential road block and uses every means possible to have Bourne “come in” to join him. Bourne refuses and Dewey enlists the professional assassin “Asset” (Vincent Cassel) as a last resort to eliminate him.

All-out Bourne action follows.  Car and motorcycle chases are as good as ever through the streets of Vegas.  It’s textbook, but I liked it. Chalk up a B plus grade on this one.

The movie is playing at the Rialto Theater in The Villages.
