Maxine Cox

Maxine Cox, 84, of Wildwood, FL, passed away Monday, April 27, 2015. Mrs. Cox was born September 24, 1930 in Effingham, IL to Albert and Bonnie (Gibbons) Stumborg, Sr.. She was a homemaker and sales person. She moved to Wildwood in 1975 from Effingham. Maxine was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and was a fantastic fundraiser for many organizations in our community including the Pilot Club walkathon, Relay for Life, the Wildwood Schools and many more. Maxine received several awards and merits from Pilot International and other organizations for her work in the Wildwood Community and Sumter County. Survivors include her sons, Jim (Patricia) of Chicago, IL and Joe (Janet) of Wildwood; brothers, Max Stumborg (Minnie Ruth) of Wildwood and Albert Stumborg, Jr. of Effingham, IL; sister, Dolores Wolf of Effingham, IL; 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick and daughter, Kathy Jones. Visitation for Maxine will be 5 – 7 p.m, Wednesday, April 29, 2015 in the Banks/Page-Theus Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be celebrated 12 .pm., Thursday in the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wildwood. For those wishing memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society, Relay for Life or Cornerstone Hospice in honor of Maxine.
