Ruth Kussard is beginning her third one-year term as mayor of Lady Lake.
She was chosen Monday night by her fellow commissioners to continue as mayor.
Kussard, a resident of the Village of La Reynalda, said she thoroughly enjoys serving as the town’s mayor.
As mayor, her duties range from presiding at commission meetings to riding in parades.
This Thursday evening, the mayor will hold a question-and-answer session at a Villages Homeowners Association meeting at Chula Vista Recreation Center. The meeting is open to the public and begins at 6:30 p.m.
“I really enjoy meeting with the people,” Kussard said.
She worked as an administrative assistant before moving to The Villages from Milwaukee. She and her husband of 51 years, Kenny, have a son in Arizona and a daughter in Minnesota.
“She has done an exceptional job as the face of the commission,” Commissioner Paul Hannan said of Kussard.
Commissioner Jim Richards made the motion to have Kussard serve another term as mayor. Richards was chosen to serve as mayor pro teem.
Kussard, as well as commissioners Richards and Dan Vincent, were sworn in Monday night for another term. They were all re-elected earlier this month with no opposition.
