Medical Examiner’s Office investigates apparent suicide of Lady Lake man after night of drinking

The Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating the apparent suicide of a Lady Lake man after a night of drinking.

The man’s wife had discovered him early Sunday morning hanging by a rope in their garage at their home on Griffin View Drive.

She told investigators that they had gone drinking at the Shamrock Bar in Leesburg and had returned home at about 2 a.m. They got into an argument about a girl at the bar, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The woman feared her husband would get violent and she drove to the parking lot of the Microtel hotel where she continued to receive text messages from him.

She received a message that said, “I am sorry I am such a disappointment to you all.” Then the text messages stopped.

She went home and found him hanging by a rope.

Lake EMS arrived and pronounced him dead at 6:27 a.m. The Medical Examiner’s Office was summoned. Foul play is not suspected.
