Meeting could determine future of Post Office on Historic Side of The Villages

A meeting will take place in November about the future of the full-service Post Office on the Historic Side of The Villages.

The meeting will include a representative of The Villages, the local Post Master and a United States Post Office director from Atlanta.

They will be discussing a plan by The Villages to shrink the size of the Post Office from about 4,000 square feet to about 1,000 square feet as part of a major overhaul of La Plaza Grande North.

“There has been unbelievable interest in the future of that Post Office,” said Lady Lake Commissioner Ruth Kussard.

The Post Office on the Historic Side services many residents whose only transportation is by golf cart.

It is the only full-service Post Office in The Villages.
