Members of Physicians United Plan granted special enrollment period

Members of the Physicians United Plan have a special enrollment period to get a new plan, effective immediately.
Beneficiaries of the plan known as PUP will have until Aug. 31, but must first call 1-800-633-4227 (1-800-MEDICARE) to request the special enrollment period, according to the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
In order for enrollment of the new plan to be effective on July 1, requests must be submitted by June 30, whether via the online enrollment center or by paper form.
PUP enrollees not taking part in the special enrollment will be put into original Medicare and a Part D prescription plan.
The Medicare Advantage plan was recently declared insolvent by the state of Florida.
