Lady Lake police arrested two men from Tampa who tried to pass fraudulent checks at Sam’s Club in Lady Lake.
Jeffrey B. Everett, 46, of Tampa, entered the Sam’s Club Sept. 28 and purchased four iPad air devices with warranties for $2,270.54. He had also been to Sam’s Club the day before and purchased $1,207.35 in alcohol. It was later determined the checks he used in the purchases were fraudulent.
Everett returned to Sam’s Club on Oct. 1 and attempted to purchase $1,531.32 in alcohol, but a store manager recognized Everett and called police.
Meanwhile, 28-year-old Ransom Flowers also of Tampa, attempted on Oct. 1 to purchase $3,196 in electronics at Sam’s Club, also with a fraudulent check.
Both men were transported to the Lake County Jail.
Flowers posted $1,000 bond and was released with an Oct. 27 court date.
Everett was still being held at the Lake County Jail on $7,000 bond. He is also due in court on Oct. 27.
