Mother, 6-year-old son extricated from vehicle after crash in Ocala

A two-vehicle crash resulted in a mother and her 6-year-old son being transported to a local trauma hospital Monday morning.

At 9:47 a.m., Marion County Public Safety Communications Center received a call reporting a two-vehicle accident near 6500 NW Highway 225A, in Ocala. Crews from MCFR Golden Ocala Station 20 arrived first on scene to find a Hyundai passenger car and a Chevrolet Suburban, off of the road, with two patients entrapped in the Hyundai.

Firefighters from MCFR Meadowood Station 12 assisted Station 20 in extricating the patients from the wrecked vehicle. The pediatric patient was transported by ambulance and the mother was transported by the MCFR/ORMC Critical Care Unit.

The mother has been identified as 31-year-old Theresia Conley of Ocala. Her six-year-old is Zachary Bode of Ocala. Their vehicle collided with a 2011 Chevy Tahoe driven by 73-year-old John Peterson of Ocala, He escaped injury.
