A 32-year-old mother was arrested after law enforcement was called Tuesday to Belleview Elementary School.
A student had told school officials her neck had been hurt by her mother, according to an incident from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The girl told a deputy that her mother “always hurts her when she’s mad,” the report indicated.
The deputy then went to a home in Summerfield and spoke with the child’s grandmother who said the child’s mother, Andrea M. Butler, had told the girl to change her shoes. When the child would not do it, Butler dragged the child into the room to change her shoes, but the grandmother said she did not see anything after that.
When the deputy spoke to Butler, she began screaming that she wanted an attorney. When Butler was put into the back of a patrol car, she was screaming so loud and banging on the door so much, that another deputy had to be called in while the first deputy filled out required domestic and shield paperwork.
Butler was arrested on a charge of cruelty to a child and booked without bond at the Marion County Jail.
